Wantange and Grove Campaign Group (WAGCG)
Useful Links to other groups

These are other groups in similar circumstances to us. We need as many groups and interested individuals as possible to register their interest so that we can spread our net as far as possible. There is nothing to say that we cannot go nationwide. With massed numbers we can generate greater pressure to bear on central government to encourage more sustainable and considered planning policy.

These links will open in new windows.

  • Alsager Residents Action Group (ARAG) - Alsager is currently under threat from an uncontrolled surge in planning applications to build on Greenfield sites which contravene policies defined in our accepted Town Plan. We need to protect our whole town and its immediate surroundings.
  • Amber Valley SOS - trying to stop the destruction of the green fields, wildlife, countryside and way of life in our beautiful Amber Valley
  • Barnfield Development Action Group - To prevent the unnecessary and damaging development of Barnfield College playing fields
  • Barthomley Action Group - We are a rural community who have come together to oppose a planning proposal that has been put together for the Crewe Estate, which is owned solely by the Duchy of Lancaster who run the Queens Estate. The proposal will destory 677 acres of Green Belt land, 4250 houses to be built and 3 Industrial Estates with a travellers / gypsy site!!
  • BBHAG and WAG - Bierton, Broughton and Hulcott Action Group & Watermead Action Group aim to reject the Eastern Growth Arc and the Combined (Eastern and Southern) Growth Arc around Aylesbury and communicate our opinions on the reasons why.
  • Beaconstreet ARA - Representing the views of the Beacon Street Area Residents' and lobby local officials on their behalf.

  • Burntwood Action Group - A group of concerned residents who have come together to help fight against proposed development on Green Belt land near Burntwood
  • Campaign to Protect Rural England England’s countryside is beautiful, irreplaceable and finite. Yet increasingly it is being destroyed by badly planned developments, while local communities are left powerless to protect the places they love. We must stand together to stop the destruction of England’s countryside. Support our three demands.
Don’t sacrifice our countryside Our open spaces are being destroyed unnecessarily. Previously developed brownfield sites should be re-used first.
A fair say for communities The cards are stacked in favour of developers. We want a democratic planning system that gives local people a stronger voice.
More housing – in the right places The country needs affordable homes. They must be sensitively located, with excellent environmental standards and high quality design.
  • Campaign for Responsible Development - Three local residents’ groups are united in calling on Bracknell Forest Council not to adopt the SADPD ‘Preferred Option’ in its present form which they believe would cause significant and permanent damage to the borough’s countryside and villages, and degrade the quality of living space for its inhabitants. Quality of countryside is a major factor for many new residents being attracted to the borough.
  • Cheadle North and North East Action Group - Residents uniting to protect their area from development.
  • Coxwolds and Vale Action Alliance - There are over 60,000 hectares of brownfield land available for use nationally, much owned and yet not used by developers, who, with the backing of politicians, are pushing into our green belt because of greed, fully aware that property on that land requires significantly less cost and effort to build and would sell for so much more. Let's address these issues with integrity and fight for a political system that will protect our green and pleasant land rather than destroy it with concrete jungles to house ever-increasing overpopulation. This area has appropriate places for building and it must be the local authorities who make the vital decisions where this building and housing can be supported.
  • Crowthorne Village Action Group - CVAG aims to maintain Crowthorne’s rural village ambience, encouraging future development to be in keeping with the area and appropriate infrastructure to be provided to support population growth
  • Fleet and Crookham Environment is Threatened - Residents of West Fleet, Crookham Village and Church Crookham have formed the FACE-IT action group (Fleet & Crookham Environment is Threatened), to force a better considered local housing plan – for a fairer distribution across the district and proper infrastructure planning for all our futures.
  • Fradley Against Curborough Town - FACT was established in 2008 to challenge a group of private speculators and developers - operating under the banner of the ‘Curborough Consortium’ - who seek to impose a sprawling 5000 house development across the southern end of Fradley
  • Grange and District Action Group - Supporting realistic development throughout the Cartmel Peninsula and defending our precious green meadows and ancient rough pasture.
  • Hampden Fields Action Group - We are a group of concerned residents and politicians committed to blocking the 3,200 houses planned for the greenfield land between Bedgrove and Weston Turville
  • Hanwell Fields Development Action Group - We the collective members of the Hanwell Fields Development Action Group wish to show our strongest objection to the Local Plan, and the proposed development areas referred as BAN5 (north of Hanwell Fields) and BAN2 (Southam Road).
  • Larkbear Action Group - Working together to safeguard Larkbear, the community and environment.
  • Ledsham & Manor Action Group - aims to support & collectively represent residents in their clearly expressed wish to oppose development on the site south of Ledsham Road. The Action Group also aims to become the local focus for the future neighbourhood planning regime envisaged by the National Planning Policy Framework. In this way we hope to ensure that local people have the most effective voice possible in formulating our part of the Local Development Framework being developed by Cheshire West and Chester Council.
  • Let Hartford Decide - Hartford is under threat from developers, who want to build up to 1,200 houses, which will radically change the village forever. We need YOU to help us to fight the developers and register your objections to their plans.
  • The Lichfield Alliance - The Lichfield Alliance is an alliance of residents associations throughout the Lichfield district. We have banded together in order to work to preserve greenbelt land and ensure sensible, quality development in the Lichfield district. We work with the local authority and yet are a totally independent voice of the authority
  • National Organisation of Residents Associations - NORA was founded in 2003 by a group of town centre residents associations who were concerned about the local threat to their environment and needed advice on Planning, Licensing, Traffic management, Car parking, Community safety and other such issues.
  • Nottingham Road and Wood Street Action Group (NoRAG) - a group of residents concerned that the wider impact of developing Money Hill should be carefully managed and that Planning Proposals 13/00335/OUTM and 13/00041/OUTM will grossly negatively impact safety and congestion in Ashby.
  • Protect Green - Against the destruction of the countryside in the UK. This group aims to make a place for people to fight against the loss of countryside to development
  • Sandleford - the wrong solution - We believe Sandleford is the wrong solution for Newbury and West Berkshire's housing needs
  • Save Brockworth's Green Belt - Following recent housing developments in Brockworth we are campaigning for a halt in the relentless swallowing up of our green fields. The latest proposals of 1500 homes will see Brockworth increase in population by 50 percent. The scale of this proposed development is too great.
  • Stop Norwich Urbanisation - SNUB was formed in 2009 to promote awareness of the vast changes that the Greater Norwich Development Partnership (GNDP) are attempting to make to our beautiful city & surrounding villages. Once the landscapes are destroyed, then they are gone forever.
SNUB is not against development, but opposes vast & unnecessary development, as proposed by Broadland District Council. SNUB is in favour of dispersal development - building the necessary number of houses for each parish, based on the views of the Parish Council & local Parish Plans for Development
  • Save Our Sidmouth - Our main objective is to ensure that East Devon District Council (EDDC) takes into account the wishes and comments of civic groups and the residents of the town in the preparation of the EDDC Local Development Plan. Existing natural resources (e.g. agricultural land, and dark skies) are vital assets now and for future generations.
  • Save the Countryside of Cheltenham - “Save The Countryside” is made up of Swindon Village and Elmstone Hardwicke residents who were alarmed by the settlement of 5,000 houses planned to be built to the North-West of Cheltenham alongside the Tewkesbury Road between Swindon Village and Elmstone Hardwick. See the outline plans here. The Goverment plans an unprecedented rate of growth for the area aiming to build these houses by 2016. We believe these projections are based on a deeply flawed model of the numbers required.
  • Say No 2 Barnhorn Green - are a group of very passionate and determined local residents who have joined forces to form an 'action group' in order to campaign against the proposed 'Barnhorn Green' development at Little Common, by Marchfield Strategic Land Ltd. We know that a large number of you, like us, feel very passionately about the loss of green fields, habitats and wildlife. Many of you have rightly expressed a real concern about the increase in traffic and the ability of the roads to cope.
  • Stop Tetburys Excessive Planning Schemes - STEPS are opposed to excessive building plans in Tetbury, Gloucestershire
  • Sutton Coldfield Rural - Sutton Coldfield Rural is a local campaign speaking for the community against the proposal to build 10,000 new houses & 50 hectares of industrial zone on the Sutton Coldfield green belt.
  • Swavesey Voice - Opposing a Affordable Housing Development on an Exception Site along the north side of the Fen Drayton Road, in what is known as the Green Belt between Swavesey and Fen Drayton
  • Theydon Bois Action Group (TBAG) - campaigns locally on issues which affect our village and threaten the Green Belt.
  • Villages Action Group - The Villages Action Group (VAG) fights proposals for large-scale development of greenfield sites around the villages of Aldingbourne and Westergate
  • West Parley Residents Association - exposes the old style top down planning which may force large unwanted developments on West Parley's green fields against the explicit wishes of residents, and the lack of democracy in the consultation process
  • Wickford Action Group - We are an independent, non-political group of Wickford residents anxious to ensure that the housing developments, previously under the now defunct Wickford Town Centre Masterplan, whilst offering definite improvements, are not implemented regardless of cost or damage to the town or the environment.
