As you may remember, last week I mentioned the "minor modification" to the Care Home on Grove Road increasing the number of residents in the care home from 65 to 74. As I said, they don't intend to increase the number of care staff but of course extra residents will mean extra visitors. They aren't intending to increase the number of parking spaces from the 25 there now but have stated in the application that there will be 24 staff on duty during the day (including care workers, office staff, housekeeping and catering staff). So where are the visitors for 74 residents going to park? Comments can be submitted at P21/V0261/FUL before 17 March.
Now the next new Care Home. Another 72 bedroom care home facility is planned for the new Kingsgrove development at Crab Hill (across the road from the new GEMS Primary school). Care UK wanted to let us know at the earliest opportunity about their proposal. They would usually conduct a public consultation meeting to discuss the scheme with members of the public, but unfortunately this is not possible due to the current restrictions. So they have adopted an internet-based consultation approach at www.dominiclawsonbespokeplanning.com/wantage where information about the proposal will be available until Monday 5 April 2021. This is in advance of any planning application. The first thing that I noticed was that there appear to be more than 25 parking spaces so that may be a good start!
It's quite interesting to compare the two designs.
Don't forget that you have to travel, you can access information about roadworks around here at https://one.network/ and if you don't get the Herald and would like to read our columns, we include them on our website at https://www.wantageandgrove.org/columns.php after they have been published. The one published today was about the Grove Road Care home.
That's all for now. Thanks for reading.
Best wishes
