Newsletter 29 November 2022

Dear [Forename]

This is just a short update because our office systems are being upgraded at the moment and it's distracting us from normal business, but this can't wait.

As you know Grove Airfield (also known as Wellington Gate) is a development of 2,500 homes being built by Persimmon and Charles Church. They have now completed 496 homes and will have to start work on the Local Centre for the development soon. They don't have to complete the Community Hub until 1,250 homes are occupied but want to get planning consent for the retail units which will be close by. They have given us an advance copy of the draft design of the Centre to comment on before they submit the application. We have until 12 December to comment so not much time.

Our initial comments are that putting the key foodstore (probably Co-op or Tesco Extra but not Lidl or Aldi) directly opposite the primary school but parking further away may not be the best idea. The nearest bus stop will also be about 200m from this shop and from the Communty Centre. We'd really like to hear what you think. The Community Centre may be bigger than Old Mill Hall so this could become the new centre of Grove so it's important that we think about it before it's built!

The document is available from our website either via https://www.wantageandgrove.org/airfield.php or directly here https://www.wantageandgrove.org/images/GroveAirfieldLocalCentre.pdf. Any comments to me by 12 December please.

Thanks for reading.

Best wishes
Julie
